Susanne Pertl is executive board member of the Stern Stewart Institute, founder of Lycée Schorge, founder & president of the Burkina Institute of Technology and Chairwoman of the board of Siteco, an industrial lighting company.
Being a truly visionary leader, she founded the Campus for Future – built by the Pritzker Price Winner Francis Kéré – in Koudougou with the goal to revolutionize education in Burkina Faso. BIT as best private university of the country with over 400 students sets a new standard with modern infrastructure, small class sizes, and English as the language of instruction. Susanne achieved the almost impossible things with this project – including rapid construction of a nucleus facility, accrediting the university, and securing funding through partnerships with individuals and corporations. Susanne also partnered with edX for quality online courses and collaborated with the Technical University of Munich to create innovative computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering programs. Emphasis on entrepreneurship, through lectures, projects, and internships, equips students with practical skills. The Burkina Institute of Technology is very proud of the 100 percent employability rate of its bachelor’s degree graduates.
Susannes broader impact extends to Lycée Schorge, a secondary school and her role at the Stern Stewart Institute. Her vision to educate a new generation of leaders and professionals, driving economic growth and prosperity in Burkina Faso is what keeps her going.
